The early stages of stomach cancer often do not cause any symptoms. As the cancer grows, symptoms may include abdominal pain or discomfort, nausea and vomiting, bloating, indigestion, loss of appetite, unexplained weight loss, and fatigue.
The exact cause of stomach cancer is not fully understood, but there are several factors that can increase a person's risk, including age, gender (men are more likely to develop stomach cancer than women), a family history of stomach cancer, smoking, a diet high in salted, smoked, or pickled foods, and infection with the bacterium Helicobacter pylori.
Treatment may include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, targeted therapy, or a combination of these treatments, depending on the stage and severity of the cancer.
