Bioidentical hormone therapy (BHT)

Is a type of hormone replacement therapy that uses hormones that are chemically identical to the hormones naturally produced in the body. These hormones are derived from plant sources and are processed to have the same molecular structure as human hormones.

BHT is often used to treat symptoms associated with hormonal imbalances, particularly in women who are experiencing menopause. It can help to alleviate symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, mood changes, vaginal dryness, and decreased libido.

BHT may also be used to treat hormonal imbalances in men, particularly those associated with aging. It can help to alleviate symptoms such as fatigue, decreased libido, and erectile dysfunction.

BHT is typically administered through topical creams or gels, oral capsules, or injections. The hormones used in BHT are customized to meet the individual needs of each patient, based on their specific symptoms and hormone levels.

While BHT is generally considered safe, it does carry some risks and side effects, particularly when used long-term. Some possible side effects of BHT include bloating, breast tenderness, acne, and headaches.
