Laser cancer therapy

Also known as laser ablation or laser phototherapy, is a type of cancer treatment that uses high-energy laser beams to destroy cancer cells.

During the procedure, a thin laser fiber is inserted into the tumor, guided by imaging technology such as ultrasound or MRI. The laser is then activated, emitting high-energy beams of light that heat and destroy the cancer cells. The procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis and typically does not require general anesthesia.

Laser cancer therapy has several advantages over traditional cancer treatments such as surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. It is minimally invasive and can be performed with a high degree of precision, reducing damage to surrounding healthy tissue. It can also be repeated as necessary, without causing cumulative toxicity or other long-term side effects.

Laser cancer therapy has been used to treat a variety of cancer types, including liver cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, and skin cancer. However, its effectiveness may depend on factors such as the size and location of the tumor, as well as the stage of the cancer.
