Intestinal cancer

Refers to any cancer that develops in the intestines, which are part of the digestive system. The two main types of intestinal cancer are colon cancer and rectal cancer, which are often grouped together as colorectal cancer.
The symptoms of intestinal cancer may include changes in bowel habits, blood in the stool, abdominal pain or cramping, unexplained weight loss, and fatigue. However, in some cases, intestinal cancer may not cause any symptoms.

The exact cause of intestinal cancer is not fully understood, but risk factors may include a family history of the disease, age, a diet high in red and processed meats, obesity, smoking, and certain medical conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease.

Treatment for intestinal cancer typically involves surgery to remove the cancerous tissue, followed by chemotherapy or radiation therapy to kill any remaining cancer cells. In some cases, targeted therapy or immunotherapy may also be used. The choice of treatment depends on the stage and severity of the cancer, as well as the patient's overall health and other factors.

The prognosis for intestinal cancer varies depending on the stage of the cancer and the patient's age and overall health.
