The early stages of liver cancer may not cause any symptoms, but as the cancer grows, symptoms may include abdominal pain, loss of appetite, unexplained weight loss, nausea and vomiting, fatigue, and jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes).
The main risk factor for liver cancer is chronic infection with hepatitis B or C virus. Other risk factors include heavy alcohol consumption, obesity, diabetes, and exposure to certain chemicals and toxins.
Treatment for liver cancer depends on the stage and severity of the cancer, and may include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, or a combination of these treatments. In some cases, a liver transplant may be recommended.
